At Rob Turner Fitness, I not only focus on giving you a challenging yet rewarding workout, but I recommend and encourage you to support your physical efforts with effective eating. What you eat is 75% of the weight loss battle. So I want to give you the five tips to setting yourself up for success.
Purge – If I were to come to your home, and perform a kitchen inspection based on the level of effectiveness for healthy eating, would you pass the inspection? I pretty sure you wouldn’t. I bet if I were to inspect your fridge, I would see sticks and tubs of butter or cream cheese, a multitude of unhealthy condiments and dips, jars of mayonnaise, bottles of fatty dressings, and packages of high sodium deli meats. Let us not forget, soda, fruity beverages, and beer. What’s in the freezer? I would probably see containers of ice cream, frozen novelties, frozen pizzas and dinners. What about your pantry? Would I see a plethora of snacks like cookies, crackers, chips, and candy?
It’s time to purge. Yes, it is time to clean out your kitchen and remove all the unhealthy items that have set you back long enough. You must create an environment that will cause you to triumph in your weight loss venture. Purge today!
Purchase – Now that we have removed the old- the old habits, the old eating, and the old you; it’s time to bring in the new. Restocking your kitchen with healthier choices will kick start your weight loss journey. Fill your fridge with fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, water, yogurt, healthier fruit beverages, and alternative condiments like salsa. Yum! Stock your pantry with brown rice, nuts, and condiments like honey. This is your opportunity to be creative and make grocery shopping and cooking fun and inventive.
Portion – We have purged the unhealthy items, and purchased the healthier items; therefore, we must understand how much we are to eat of these healthy foods. Listen, just because you are eating a food that is good for you, does not mean you can just consume massive amounts of it in one sitting. Have some discipline by using proper portion control. There many informative sites that can provide proper portion sizes for various foods- choosemyplate.gov is great place to start. One example is using a deck of cards or the palm of your hand; that's roughly the portion size for your lean meats or chicken.
Prepare – So now that we understand portion size, you can begin assembling your meals; prepare your meals ahead of time! Prepare your meals for the next day the night before. This will set you up for success as you will not need to worry about your next meal and prevent you from going to the vending machine at work. There will be no skipping meals (that does a lot more harm than good).Your meals are readily available so that you can eat on schedule. Not only eat, but eat for a new body. That sounds exciting!!
Practice – The final tip is practice. Make healthy eating a practice. In fact, make this a habit. This is your new routine; stick to it. Go for your goal and don’t deviate from it. No matter what people may say or what they may do to get you to lose focus, stay diligent, determined, and disciplined. Make it clear that this is the new you; because, before you know it, there will be new you.
The Weight Is Over!!!
